Diseases, Aging and Death

The criminal NATURE
would kindly supply Mankind with a rich collection of not very comfortable amount of immediate benefices, like
a quite rich collection of more than
11,000 classified human diseases
[International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modifications, 4th ed.,                                     1993, Washington, Public Health Service]. Diseases unceasingly mixed with the most diversified opportunity of violence the Nature is well distributing in space and time along all our lifetime, coming from an environment filled with some thousands of bacteria pathogenic to man and animals or plants; some thousands viruses pathogenic to man and animals or plants; hundreds of parasites pathogenic to mans, animals or plants; a number of deadly plants, of deadly animals; of deadly 'natural' events impending from the surface  [ volcanoes] to the depth of the earth [earthquakes], from the sea and the atmosphere [tsunami, cyclones, hurricanes], from the universe [radiation,  asteroids, comets], very often culminating in the men's so widespread
greatest idiocy: the war.

 

The Nature's violence is notwithstanding flavored with melancholy, sadness, ignorance, solitude, despair, madness

   While, AS TIME GOES ON, slowly in the beginning while more and more hastily, the Nature's fruit that's human life improves by the advent of
senescence
a well known feature wrapping our lives
day after day, with a cobweb of dysfunction:

legs becoming aching, creaking, uncertain in moving;
the cold biting to the bones more and more weakened and bent;
the sight becoming distorted, bad defined;
the liver functionality decreasing down to minimal requirements;
the kidney becoming floating; the heart-beat becoming undecided, faltering;
the mind derangement increasing towards the sloping shaft of the oblivion, incomprehension, a bewildering dementia.
All the above joined with an increasing expansion
of the loneliness, the distance from friends, books, compassion.
The despair is choking the soul every day, every hour, every wakeful night
waiting the last resolutive feature, the impending death.
That's aging
And, in the end [the true end of life], the criminal Nature kindly supply us the ultimate entertainment, well soaked with appropriate sufferings:
the death.
